Purpose & Scope of Position

The Project Director will be responsible for the comprehensive management, coordination, and administration of projects along the Project lifecycle across phases of FEL, Detail Engineering and Execution. This includes ensuring the Project Objectives with effective governance starting from project setup, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout, aligned with TCE's scope as the EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) partner in the project. Project Director will remain accountable for delivering projects within scope, budget, and schedule, while adhering to stringent safety, quality, and environmental standards. The work will also be aligned with TCE’s business objectives including contract compliance, revenue, receivables, and profitability. 

Experience

  • Knowledge of working in Iron and steel plant or non-ferrous plant (such as copper/ zinc/ aluminum, etc) engineering/ consultancy/ operation or project management.
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in cross functional leadership roles in a project environment.
  • Strong leadership skills/proven leadership skills and abilities
  •  Well-developed written and oral communication/negotiation skills
  • Ability to function well in a team environment.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Experience in managing multi discipline projects.
  • Experience in engineering, procurement and construction, and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies. Broad knowledge of industry standards.

Qualification

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required. A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Business Management is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is also preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Displays and actively promotes behavior aligned to TCE’s goal of achieving a total safety culture.
  • Develops and obtains sign-off from client on Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Client’s Requirement Specification. 
  • Develops and resources an appropriate organization structure and ensures that the entire project team has the required resources for the work.
  • Provides leadership to the project and creates a highly committed and aligned team environment with all who can influence the project’s outcomes.
  • Ensures governance on the project, specifically compliance to TCE and client delegations of authority, procedures and policies. Authorizes all commitments of expenditure on the project.
  • Ensure a detailed scope, cost and schedule control baseline is developed and maintained by project manager.
  •  Carries clear accountability for delivery of the project goals as per agreed scope. Coordinates major correspondence between TCE and the client and maintains working relationships at all levels throughout the period of the project.
  • Ensures all contractual commitments to assure that all work is being performed in accordance with the specifications, scopes, terms of the contract and client expectations.
  • Conducts regular project progress and client meetings to review the progress and issues in all disciplines of the project.
  • Establishes and manages processes for the early identification of any potential changes to the TCE contract and ensure that those changes are identified to the Client. Ensures that appropriate contractual changes are formally authorized by the Client.
  • Ensure that TCE’s internal governance practices are followed such as governance meetings, change management, proper MIS, document control management, etc.
  • Directs and ensures all discipline functions throughout the project lifecycle and ensures that the discipline leads actively manage best practices within each of their fields
  • Ensures that the TCE Project Manager follows required business and workplace integration activities, specifically, project documentation (contractual, engineering, and change related) is managed (received, reviewed, comments incorporated, responded and incorporated in records).
  • Ensure client's acceptance of the work and sign-off for the completed project.
  • Establishes and ensures the invoicing process with the Client maintaining optimum Locked Working Capital
