Purpose & Scope of Position

The Mechanical QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance and control systems to ensure that all mechanical construction activities meet the defined standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role ensures quality compliance across equipment erection, piping, welding, hydro-testing, and commissioning at an industrial construction site.

Experience

  • Experience: 8–10 years in QA/QC roles within industrial construction projects such as power plants, oil & gas, steel, cement, or heavy engineering sectors.

  • Sound knowledge of ASME, AWS, IS codes, and other relevant industry standards.

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI) preferred.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and implementation.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office and QA/QC reporting tools.

Qualification

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and implement Project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and related QA/QC documents for mechanical works.

  • Conduct material inspections and review Material Test Certificates (MTCs) for all incoming mechanical equipment and components.

  • Monitor and inspect welding activities, WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.

  • Supervise and verify fit-up, dimensional checks, and welding inspections (visual and NDT).

  • Coordinate with Third Party Inspectors (TPIs) and client representatives for stage-wise inspections and approvals.

  • Ensure proper documentation of quality records, test reports, calibration certificates, and inspection reports.

  • Carry out line checking, punch listing, and witness hydrostatic/pneumatic testing of piping systems.

  • Participate in root cause analysis for non-conformities and develop corrective and preventive actions.

  • Ensure implementation of site-specific quality control procedures and continuous improvement practices.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly QA/QC reports for management and clients.

  • Support mechanical completion and pre-commissioning activities with quality compliance.

  • This position is on a consultant role at TCE.
